Established in 1985, we have spent decades building a reputation for engineering excellence, precision workmanship and unrivalled industry expertise.

OUR STORY

Picture the scene… it’s 1985. A young(ish) Charlie Mahoney decides to strike out on his own and launches CTM Performance Heads. Since 1973, Charlie had been honing his craft at Burtons, modifying cylinder heads for everything from 850 Minis to big-block V8s. But he knew the best way forward was to follow his own vision.

In the early days, CTM focused primarily on producing high-performance cylinder heads for Fords. With x-flows and Pintos dominating British motorsport at the time, “Charlie at CTM” quickly became a well-known and trusted name, particularly within the short-circuit racing community.

Throughout the following years, CTM continued to expand its expertise and client base. In the late 1990s, the business grew significantly with the acquisition of Burton Power Products’ engineering workshop. This allowed us to offer a far wider range of services, covering every aspect of engine modification and general engineering.

By 2004, growing demand meant we had outgrown our original premises. The move to our current workshop in Dagenham provided the space and facilities needed to support a broader range of projects and deliver work to an even higher standard.

CHARLIE MAHONEY

Owner

With over 50 years of engineering experience, Charlie built CTM on quality, dedication, and craftsmanship. His expertise in cylinder head work quickly made CTM a trusted name in racing, and his commitment to precision continues to shape the company today.

NICHOLAS TRIDINI

Manager

Nick joined CTM in May 1990. He has worked in every area of the business, from fettling cylinder heads to boring blocks and building complete engines. Specialising in machinery work, Nick designs and fabricates custom components to support CTM’s varied projects. Nick now manages day-to-day operations

DEAN MAHONEY

Assistant Manager

Trained by both Nick and his father Charlie, Dean quickly developed his skills and eventually became CTM’s head fettler and mentored many engineers. Over the past decade, Dean has broadened his expertise to include welding, boring, and engine building.

RYAN MAHONEY

Engineer

Ryan joined CTM five years ago when a position opened that required hands-on engineering experience. Learning under Dean, he quickly mastered fettling and now contributes across various areas of the workshop. His versatility and growing skill set help support the team’s high standards and workflow.

GARY PLASTER

Engineer

Garry has taken on a wide range of responsibilities—from blasting components to handling customer deliveries and collections. Known as “the Woodman,” Garry’s creativity and craftsmanship with timber make him the go-to person for building custom fixtures and solving unique workshop challenges.
